Lately, I have had real signs that time is not promised to anyone...when you go it is so quick, fast and unexpected in most cases your legacy is all that is left. What will my legacy be? Will I be remembered for my random, sporadic thoughts that I was able to capture in some form of text. Will I be remembered for those two beautiful daughters that create new meaning to my life everyday? Will I be remembered for my transgressions. You know those mistakes that you make and you spend so much time trying to overcome and make up for. What is it? Or will I be remembered at all? Wall Street and Bourbon Street are miles apart. Yet, there may surprisingly be similar activity on the two infamous streets today. On Wall Street stocks are falling; in contrast, on Bourbon Street blouses are falling. Stocks are falling because of the uncertainty of our economy; while, on Bourbon street blouses are falling as women flash a little more than cleavage for the esteemed honor of having the most beads. Today, is the celebration of Mardi G ras and Bourbon Street in New Orleans will be alive with parades and tons of people with beads. The famous King Cake and the other specialities unique to New Orleans will be feasted upon as people enjoy the holiday. The streets will come alive with the mystical sounds of jazz and blues. Racism Ok, the year is 2009 and unfortunately, one of the hottest topics is still racism. What a shame that with all the new technology, new styles, and new ideas and concepts in America we revert to an older term- ‘racism’ There is nothing futuristic about racism. The word ‘racism’ conveys images of selected groups of people who have prejudiced views of other people. Racist views date back to an uglier American time that many people do not care to talk about in the new millennium. Well, one might try to step into a new century and think that racism is packed neatly away archived in the history books; yet, that would be a foolish step to take. Sometimes a rainy day can be the best day to get inspired. Lately, I have been asking myself all the hard-hitting questions: such as am I Happy? Is this all I have to look forward too? What is next on my life agenda? You know, all the stuff that you usually do not have time to contemplate because you are too busy handling life to question life. Flawed Friendship Women are known to have very unique friendships. Certain friendships last a long time; while, other friendships are short and quick. All my friendships hold a special place cemented in my heart. As a young girl friendships start off fast and those are the first ones we remember. As I get older I even begin to treasure the friendships that ended bitterly. It seems that those not so happy endings of a friendship actually helped me to learn quite a few lessons. Perhaps, the most significant friendship involved a girlfriend with whom I was acquainted with for nearly a decade.
