Retail Therapy

There are some days when you need a little retail therapy to help to overcome whatever problems you are experiencing. What is it that is so elusive about shopping and purchasing some new item that enables us to instantly feel better. Better than aspirin, ibuprofen, or any kind of pain killers is the immediate uplift associated with shopping. Does that perfect little summer dress or that irresistible pair of heels really have the power to help you forget that the bathroom flooded again? Or that your boss has irritated the heck out of you again?  Is it the act of perusing the aisles and becoming drawn to that one particular something that you just have to have...that quiets the storm that once raged inside. There is that thrill associated with taking something new into the house, trying that something new on, even the smell of newness is all part of the therapeutic actions of shopping. Then if you happen to have purchased items that were on sale there is an added layer to the thrill. It is similar to hunting your prey and finding your prey for half off. There are few things comparable to the thrill of shopping for me. I grew up shopping with my grandmother and I have continued the tradition by raising two girls who understood percentage discounts way before their time. It is fun and it is therapeutic; yet, I probably should have a discussion with Clark Howard about my shopping excursions and how it might have been cheaper to actually see a therapist than overload myself on clothes and shoes. Still,  I declare that there are days when retail therapy is the solution to the problem. Check out these links if you will be in Atlanta this week. They will direct you to some pretty hot sales going on in Atlanta right now.
