Eyebrows are now one of the most dynamic pieces to the puzzle of completing a great looking face. Yes... lips are still important, and your cheeks should still look flushed; now, though the eyes are taking center stage and starting with the eyebrows. There is actually beauty in a pair of well groomed brows. Eyebrows done right can take your face from plain to glamorous in an instant. In fact, now it is common to see small shops dedicated to one purpose- eyebrows. In the city of Atlanta and the surrounding areas you can find eyebrow spots as common as you can find hair salons. From tweezers, to threading, to waxing...women are getting those eyebrows done and confidently showing off the new glam looks. Grown women, teenagers, and the 20 something set are all paying way more attention to their eyebrows. My daughters and I have even made brow maintenance a rotating part of our beauty routine. From natural brows to bold looking eyebrows it really is whatever works for your face. You can try big brand makeup places like Sephora and MAC, or smaller and more local places to get those gorgeous brows buffed to perfection.

My favorite place for getting eyebrows done is a cosmetics studio located at 822 Oak St SW, Atlanta, GA 30310 in the West End Mall. The place is called Dendera and it is certainly a unique experience every visit. The intimate salon is run by family members and their specialty is brows...not just any brows- Broadway Brows. Broadway brows means that you can see these eyebrows on a Broadway stage. While they also have cosmetics, jewelry, and lash application, they are known for eyebrow definition. They simply use a razor and they clean up your brows, give them some shape, fill them in, and leave you looking like you are ready for the runway. This place is so popular that on the weekends you have to take a ticketed number. Yes, they have tickets so the ladies can keep their place while they wait on their turn. Actually, the ticketing helps to keep order in the place because there are some who don't want to wait their turn and the spot is too small for large groups to sit and wait. So along with having 10 dollars ready for your brows to become transformed you also have to come in with patience. The ladies of Dendera take time in getting to know each customer- so much so that they feel like family. They don't mind discussing the hot topic of the day -all the while giving out advice on how to grow those brows back.

My brows are wild and full to begin with so normally when I step into Dendera I know they are going to have to do a fair amount of getting my brows back under control and eliminating that ever sneaking feeling of a uni-brow I have approaching when I have stayed away too long. Once they have them under control they hand me the mirror so I can get a full look of how things are before they apply anything on them for definition. Next, I usually give my ok and they begin to add a little color to brows. Now, I have rather unusually big eyes so there is a lot of area to play around with. However, depending on the customer they create the eyebrows suited to the best look for your face. By the time they are done I usually feel totally transformed and ready to go out and take over the world. Below are some before, during, and after shots of my experience at Dendera.
