Can you still arrive on time during Daylight Savings time in Atlanta ?

Yes you can still arrive on time in spite of Daylight Savings time, and in spite of Atlanta traffic, and in spite of warm temperatures. With daylight savings time happening this Sunday, March 12th at 2am Atlanta, Georgia prepares for the business culture to adjust their traffic commutes to still try and reach the office at their designated time. Setting your clock back is not a valid excuse to arrive late in Atlanta, nor is the super warm temperature, or the horrific traffic. Because no matter what the temperature gauge reads, or what accident happened right in front of you, or how your iPhone failed to let you know the correct time... work is still ongoing. However, if you have ever sat on I-285 West at 730am or been in Marietta on 75 south trying to make it to a meeting by Perimeter Mall at 8am...then you know Atlanta traffic sucks, and getting up earlier is not fun, and it is always a hot tire about to burst on the Atlanta Freeway.

Still, the weather is a huge reason why so many people move to this big southern city town. The rain doesn't happen too much and the winter is sometimes non-existent, and the property value is decent in comparison to other large cities. While the summers can bring oppressive and unending heat. There is nothing oppressive about all the potential opportunity in the city when it comes to business and networking. Thus, in order to become successful in business and networking in Atlanta you have to be on time for your engagements. On time habits are important too especially if you are new to the city and want to participate in the networking culture. Atlanta is quickly becoming known as the hot city for making business deals happen. Forbes noted that Atlanta is unique when it comes to looking for engineers to help with a startup and even to find new work.

According to Forbes the local colleges and universities graduate over 2000 quality engineers every year. Additionally, industries ranging from technology to film are booming big business all over the southern capital. Opportunities from mega brands like Google, Coke, Delta, and even Tyler Perry Studios are possible. Understanding how to effectively network in Atlanta is important to create successful business ventures. While there is not a direct equation to successful networking below is the first rule to ensuring you have a real chance of being successful.

Arrive before time-   Everyone has heard of arrive on time however in Atlanta Georgia arrive before time because the possible accidents, high speed chase, or oil spill is going to happen.  The traffic in Atlanta is totally unreal so expect it, prepare for it, leave extra extra early, and that way you don't have to arrive late and miss the value of networking. Use your GPS as well as learn back roads. There is a lot of new construction in the city and it will be useful to have your GPS handy as well as knowing how to jump off the highway and go around the delay.  You can also try UBER to get around the city and try the rail system if your event is on the line of the local Marta train. This all requires research so take time to find out where you going at least 24 hours before the event.

Of course, this is just one rule for networking in the southern capital. I will definitely share more rules and places for networking in the future. However, right now it is best to do some research on locations in Atlanta, Georgia and ease into the culture with Daylight savings time before you delve into other tips for success. Right now, just remember to set your clock back on Sunday and practice finding an alternative way to get to your destination other than your anticipated route. This will help you to become prepared for the nuances of networking in Atlanta. Please check back for other Networking in Atlanta tips.
