Oysterfest serves up a shucking good time

Oyster lovers had a good time shucking, shoveling, and squeezing lemon on their shellfish on Saturday, February 17, 2018. The Park Tavern right next to Piedmont Park was the destination for the Oysterfest. Instantly this location  became a unique spot in the heart of Atlanta to try oysters on the half shell, listen to live music, and sip on a festival mixed cocktail.

Actually, the mixed cocktails were plentiful and there were enough stations to keep the crowd moving without any uncomfortable long waiting. Most of the drinks were festival inspired and Ketel One Vodka served up a great version of Sea Breeze that was an awesome accompainment to the oysters. Goza Silver Tequila even offered up a spin on the margarita that was smooth and sea worthy. Of course there was beer to help balance out your tastebuds from Lager. And if you like a granny smith apple then you would probably enjoy the hard cider from Bold Rock Apple.

Along with sipping on some cool drinks there were games to help break the ice and prizes from sponsors up for grabs. Plus Spiral Entertainment always guarantees good music. Atlanta's hottest DJ's and local bands made sure to provide a funky musical backdrop to the fun.

Still, the oysters served as the star of the festival. Raw, fried, and steamed oysters were all over the Park Tavern. Lemons and hot sauce were bountiful to dress up the oysters. It was really a feast for the eyes to behold and a chance to share in the shucking and jiving. This festival surely created some memorable moments as southerners indulged in the seafood delicacy.
